Sex Reversal of the Giant Freshwater Prawn Macrobrachium dacqueti through Androgenic Gland Ablation

چکیده
The male Macrobrachium species (giant freshwater prawn) typically achieve better growth and a larger harvest size than females. Hence, it is clear that the monosex culture of all-male prawn populations would be inexpensively advantageous. This study aimed to determine whether androgenic gland (AG) ablation induces sex reversal giant dacqueti. AG was ablated through bilateral microsurgery (AG ablation) let them recover for two months. weight length were also measured every 15 days. Results revealed removal from males immature M. dacqueti resulted in reversal, with 70% female differentiation. Successful neo-female prawns exhibited development an ovary orange coloration as matures. Andrectomized did not develop appendix masculina second pleopod, indicator suspected prawn. A significant increase observed within months compared control. Based on result study, possible ablation. Therefore, sex-reversed (neo-females) can used breed normal produce progenies since both parents possess hormones, thereby rendering huge advantage culture.

In the present study, the effects of bilateral eyestalk ablation on molt interval, ovarian development, and hemolymph levels of ecdysteroid and vitellogenin were investigated in the giant freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii in order to examine the roles of the eyestalk hormones. In destalked males and females, ecdysteroid levels increased rapidly, and molt intervals were significantly s...
متن کاملStarvation Promotes Autophagy-Associated Maturation of the Ovary in the Giant Freshwater Prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii
Limitation of food availability (starvation) is known to influence the reproductive ability of animals. Autophagy is a lysosomal driven degradation process that protects the cell under metabolic stress conditions, such as during nutrient shortage. Whether, and how starvation-induced autophagy impacts on the maturation and function of reproductive organs in animals are still open questions. In t...

Calcium hypochlorite commercially known as bleaching powder is used as a bleaching agent in shrimp processing industries in many countries and known to effect biochemical alteration in shrimp muscle. Studies were, therefore, undertaken to determine their effect in different concentrations viz., 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 ppm with different time intervals on the quality of head-on, headless shell-on ...
